The only sustainable future for Italy is its fragmentation.
A State can be dead without being aware of that. When does it happen? Normally, i.e. historically, this happens when citizens feel completely detached from the State they are subject to, when any possible form of adherence to that State loosened, and it is seen just as a burden (onto personal freedom) and as enemy, as well as a threat.
Our sense of belonging, let alone of love for this country has completely disappeared, and this is true not only for those, like myself and all the Venetian, Sardinian, Sicilian, Piedmontese, Lombard, Neapolitan, Tuscan citizens aiming at complete independence, with a clear political agenda and a sincere love for independence, but also for most Italians, who are facing such a debased show, that most wonder whether they are dreaming, for all what happens now, under the keen and disturbed international eye, goes well beyond any possible imagination, and most dreadful scenario.
However, the Prime Minister’s sexual prowess, public lies, and his untamed pride are just one sign, among many others, of the necessity to bring to an end all this.
It is high time for independence.
From Sudan to Yemen, there are signs that a creation of new States out of the ruins of artificial entities is historically necessary in order to safeguard the citizens’ well-being and the future of the coming generation.
VENETO STATO offers a clear-cut way out of the present tragic impasse, the independence of the Veneto region. It might well cause a domino effect, but this is not a priority, nor something absolutely necessary. Montenegro and Kosovo did not put an end to Serbia, on the contrary, reduced in size and in its pan-nationalistic pretensions, Serbia might well flourish as a little or medium-size State.
The only feelings we have towards this feeble State called Italy, are those of fear, suspect, laugh, irony, and sadness. We might live in Italy, but we see it as an alien entity, whose aim is to survive thanks to some of our income (average 50%) that we completely unwilling must nonetheless give to it in form of taxation.
This is not the life of a beloved communitarian entity, is just the awful survival of a lame vampire.
This sense of detachment from the governmental institutions may be felt everywhere else in the world, but with less intensity and a minor degree of hatred. Some “necessary evils” might be, in fact, salutary minor goods. As a matter of fact, the contrary of love (for a country) can be sheer indifference, or a moderate sense of belonging. In our case, the contrary of love is indeed hate. When most of a population hates not only its government, but, first and foremost, the form of State it’s forced to obey where is forced to live, a simple change of government is NOT the solution.
It is the same form of State that must be altered. This is a slightly more complex and lengthy process, but this is the only way out, for, if all the governments of Italy over the last quarter of century proved to be dysfunctional, it is most likely true that Italy is dysfunctional, and should as soon as possible disassembled.
Nothing new under the sun, says Qohelet. We see this happening in Sudan right now, we saw it in the former Czechoslovakia, and we are witnessing similar processes in Scotland and Catalonia. Veneto is mature to create an independent Republic. There ebbs and flows, the tides of history, Shakespeare invited to catch them.
We must.
Italy is plunging in a situation of poverty, as ALL the national and international indicators, and rankings convincingly show. Have a look at the newly released Index of Economic Freedom 2010: http://www.heritage.org/index/ranking, for instance. But should you think that this index is biased, for it comes from “libertarian” agencies, you might have a look at other indexes, more neutral if you like.
They all point to a situation of disgrace, including the official Italian indexes, from Censis to Istat. Our GDP is falling down. Greece might be below Italy in the Index of Economic Freedom 2010 (88th, Italy ranks 87th), but, to our surprise, its GDP per capita is slightly higher than the Italian, and this just after the immense crisis Greece has just (partially) overcome. At PPP, an American citizen earns one third more than an Italian, 45,000 USD against 29,000. Former communist countries, like Slovenia and the Czech Republic, are approaching the Italian individual GDP. They came out from Communism, certainly not from an open society, a free market, a kingdom of freedom! The divide between North and South is gaping. This does not mean that the North is well, on the contrary, parameters go from “very bad” down to “much worse”.
My Como students who after graduation end up working as part-time clerks in shops might be defined lucky. Very few out of the 90 students I graduated from December 2006 got a decent job. These are hard facts, undeniable.
CONTRA FACTUM NON VALET ARGUMENTUM.
A free Veneto (and Sicily etc.) might eventually flourish, but in any case, they immediately might better compete in an increasingly competitive world.
VENETO STATO has a great future ahead that includes a major responsibility.
Dead might walk until someone tells them that they are indeed dead, and should rest in peace, one can do that by switching channel with the remote. Tired of freaky and creepy zombie movies, she goes for a romantic comedy, laugh, and relax.
Let’s do that.
